The County Treasurer is the disbursement officer of the county and is responsible for the custody and disbursement of all county funds and school district funds. This includes county taxes, turn-back funds, federal matching funds, state aid to school district funds, and other revenue streams.

What does the Treasurer do?

The Ashley County Treasurer is the disbursement officer of the county. Duties include:

  • Receiving revenue from local, state and federal agencies
  • Distributing money to Ashley County taxing entities
  • Accurate accounting of all receipts and disbursements
  • Securing county funds that are above FDIC limits
  • Investing county funds
  • Preparing and signing checks for employees and creditors of the county
  • Reconciling bank statements monthly to ensure balance accuracy
  • Projecting revenue for upcoming year during annual budget process
  • Presenting monthly financial reports to the Quorum Court on the county’s fiscal condition

Where do my tax dollars go?

While property taxes vary slightly depending on where you live in the county, around 80¢ for every dollar you pay goes to schools. The rest goes to roads, libraries, public safety, and other local government services.

Personal Statement

I have worked a total of 13 years in this office and have earned 165 Continuing Education hours officially certified by the Arkansas County Treasurer’s Continuing Education Board.  I’m also a member of the Association of Arkansas Counties and the Arkansas County Treasurer’s Association.

Duties of the Treasurer

  • Invest county funds and secure funds held above FDIC limits
  • Prepare and sign checks for employee payroll and creditors of the county
  • Balance daily and reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Project revenue for the annual budget process
  • Present monthly report to the Quorum Court on the fiscal condition of the county

  • Hobbies include, running, crocheting, volunteering in the community and spending as much time as possible with the grandchildren
  • Active member of the Ashley County Cares Breast Cancer Committee. 
  • My husband, Alan, and I are members of Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church, where we faithfully attend with our family. 
  • We have three children and three grandchildren.
